![]() When conditions are good, you’ll find fantastic snow here. However, unlike most of those resorts, none of Vail’s terrain requires hiking to get to. You won’t find the perilous chutes or couloirs accessible at many other Rocky Mountain resorts. The terrain here consists mainly of excellent, easily lapable glade runs, and you can find some bowl-like skiing and cliffs at the top.īut what you won’t find anywhere at Vail is truly extreme terrain. Blue Sky Basin offers fewer crowds and less tracked snow than other resort areas and feels completely isolated from the outside world. There are a few intermediate slopes as well, which is unique for Colorado bowl terrain.īy the time you make it to Blue Sky Basin, the furthest back of the three mountain areas, you’ll be miles away from Vail’s base village-and any inhabited municipalities. Most of the terrain is steep and ungroomed, so advanced skiers will find a solid workout here. This area is absolutely breathtaking-with above-treeline terrain making up most of the acreage here, you can often see skiers in neighboring bowls miles away. These wide-open ridges, accessible from the top of the front side, span several miles and offer seemingly limitless tracks. While heavily promoted by the resort, the back bowls at Vail truly do offer an experience like no other. The park at Golden Peak offers a superpipe and other major features, while the parks at Avanti consist of smaller features designed for beginner and intermediate freestylers. The front side is also home to Vail’s family of terrain parks. The front side also offers Vail’s only double-black diamond runs, with extremely steep, narrow, thin cover trails under the gondola, and the long, trying Prima mogul run off Northwoods. Advanced skiers will easily find plenty of steep mogul runs and can, with some effort, discover unmarked glade runs with hidden powder stashes. Intermediates will have no problem finding groomed cruisers throughout the front side in fact, parts of the mountain are completely dedicated to blue groomers. Beginners will find gentle slopes off the upper-mountain Sourdough and Game Creek lifts, but all green trails leading back down to the bases are catwalks. Vail’s front side offers a wide variety of below-treeline skiing and defined runs. You can probably spend an entire season here without getting bored. It’s impossible to cover the whole resort in a day, let alone an entire week. Vail’s size is unmatched by any other resort in Colorado. With prices among the most expensive in the industry, this top-of-the line resort competes with the best in the country. Veterans of the 10th Mountain Division were often involved, because they were among the most talented skiers in the nation.Long known for its expansive terrain and charismatic village experience, Vail has built quite a name for itself over the years. Businessmen, dreamers and ski bums were scouring the West for places to build resorts, convinced that the sport would soon boom in popularity. The decade after the war was a heady time for the nation’s fledgling ski industry. Two years later, Seibert was a ski instructor in Aspen. When he was evacuated from the front lines-after three days-doctors said he would never again walk. Seibert was hit by mortar fire in the Appenine Mountains of northern Italy, and his right kneecap was badly damaged. The 10th Mountain Division was charged with driving the Germans from the Alps. The actual war featured its own set of horrors. Based at Camp Hale in the Colorado Rockies, Seibert and hundreds of others endured “d-series training,” during which the unit spent weeks above 10,000 feet in winter, skiing many miles each day carrying 90-pound packs. Some veterans would later joke that the training was worse than the war. ![]()

#FOTOMAGICO PIXEL DIMENSIONS HOW TO#(Yes, there are some other oddball and cheapo device resolutions, includning TV's that are actually 16:10 / 8:5.)īasically, assuming you do not want to leave the choices of how to crop and scale to the display device, and you have a true 1080p device, your choices are to crop to a 16:9 aspect ratio and then scale to 1920x1080 or scale your 3:2, 2:3, or 1:1 image so that its height is 1080 pixels, and then paste it into a (typically black, but you can use whatever) 1920x1080 pixel background. There have also been many televsions sold that are 1366x768 pixels, and even some with 1024x768 pixels but with a 16:9 aspect ratio (i.e., not square pixels). A true 1080p device is 1920 x 1080 pixels. You have gotten some advice that is close but not correct. #FOTOMAGICO PIXEL DIMENSIONS TV#For calibration on the TV I always leave it on the THX auto setting (optimized for movies) which looks pretty much perfect to my eye. I export as RGB jpg at high quality (10) and keep the adobe color space I normally use in Photoshop. Fotomagico is more responsive with smaller pictures and slide show file sizes are more managable. There are a number of reasons to downsize: I save slide show/TV pictures in seperate folders, so I don't want to double disk use. When the TV and receiver are on the computer recognizes the TV as a second monitor and I set it to mirror and run Fotomagico slide shows one to one on the TV. #FOTOMAGICO PIXEL DIMENSIONS PRO#I have a Mac Pro hooked directly to the receiver/amp via hdmi (dcmi on the computer end of cable) and an optical audio cable for sound. If I don't intend to zoom in for a slide show I crop my pictures to that exact dimension (1080x1960) for viewing on my Panasonic 58" plasma, even when zooming I normally crop my 18 MP shots down to a more managable size. #FOTOMAGICO PIXEL DIMENSIONS SOFTWARE#but for a simple slideshow with or without music Ligthroom is a very capable software and easy to use.ġ960 is the horizontal pixel size of 1080 HD. something you could do with Fotomagico for example. some will say that you dont ahve as much power to create the best slideshow. Pro? easy to config since all is done in Lightroom. #FOTOMAGICO PIXEL DIMENSIONS MOVIE#Then when you view your image save as sRGB color spcae they will look good.įor best quality, are there any pros/cons to using the LR3 slideshow export to movie formats? it is best just to *play* with the tv setting until you get a good image to your taste when you watch tv. and since you cant really have a monitor profile for your tv. a custom profile is for the monitor only. You dont need to export or you dont want to export with a calibrated monitor profile. Any advice on this topic is most welcome. I am going to export as generic sRGB for now, but eventually I plan on reexporting using profiles I come up with after the calibration. A generic recipe good for many type of projector / tv / web / email. I will suggest that you leave them at there maximum size or what i usually do is to export them at 1024 x 780 72ppi (ppi at that point dont do anything.but im use to do it ) with a sRGB color profile. The primary question is, what are the appropriate pixel dimensions for exporting photos for watching on a 1080p device? Thanks in advance for the help and advice! For best quality, are there any pros/cons to using the LR3 slideshow export to movie formats? Also, so far JPEG files are viewable through the Blu-ray players using the players default slide-show mode, so I am sticking with that. My tool of choice for now is LR 3 to export, although I might use ImageMagick if the need arises. At some point, I am planning on following this. Although my editing workstation is calibrated, my TVs, as of yet, are not. The secondary intent is not a question, but more a request for wisdom around this overall topic. The displays are 73" or 37", I want to export to a size that works for both. The primary question is, what are the appropriate pixel dimensions for exporting photos for watching on a 1080p device? My pictures are, for for the most part, in 3:2 landscape format, or 2:3 portrait format, or 1:1 square, as opposed to the 16:9 of the display. I am able to view media on my HDTV displays via my networked Blu-ray DVD players. I have been able to setup a DLNA server on my Linux RAID file-server. ![]() ![]() Just Back from WDW – The Best and the Worst of it Knowing those aspects have a negative effect on how this trip will be remembered, I shall endeavor to do my best in giving balanced feedback. ![]() Everything from Alan himself, to the objects littering your environment, to the foliage, rolling hills, and mountains surrounding Bright Falls show an incredible amount of detail. Alan Wake Remastered falls in with the former (I mean, it’s in the title), and lines up with the better remasters such as Shadow Of The Colossus.Īs soon as you start a new game, you can see visually just how much Alan Wake has been improved. A remake would fall in the realm of the recent PlayStation 5 launch title in Demon’s Souls, getting a total makeover and feeling reimagined with the technological improvements of this generation behind it. It reminds you of playing the game back when it was released, just without the fluff of new additions or being completely remodeled to stack up to today’s standards. I mentioned the Bioshock Collection earlier (and I’ll probably reference it again), and that in my mind is the best version of a remaster. Let’s start off with this, a remaster and a remake are very different things. #ALAN WAKE REMASTERED UPDATES UPDATE#Does it belong in the gaming space today, or is it too long in the tooth to work in the modern era? Thankfully, the gameplay was already solid, so all it really requires is an update in frame rate and resolution. That’s a lot of ways to go about saying Alan Wake is a narrative masterpiece, but obviously in a remaster we care a bit more about how it plays and looks. These add about two to three hours to the base game which is generally anywhere from ten to fifteen hours, and I’m assuming without running around trying to find all one hundred collectible coffee thermoses. What is awesome is this edition does include both additional DLC chapters, The Signal and The Writer. Nothing in the story is touched in this remaster, and it shouldn’t be, because it was perfect to begin with. Some of my favorite moments in video game storytelling are present in Alan Wake, and Sam Lake and Remedy should be proud of the legacy they’ve created. The story seems to follow after the strange themes you find in Twin Peaks, and even if it isn’t directly inspired, it certainly feels like it. Things just continue to get weirder and weirder for Alan, with more twists and turns than Lombard Street in San Francisco. After running in and finding she has fallen down into the lake, and upon jumping in you wake up suddenly behind the wheel of your wrecked vehicle. In the midst of running outside in the dark because you know your nyctophobic partner won’t chase you down (kind of a shameful move if you ask me), you hear her screaming for help. As you find out afterwards at the island cabin at Cauldron Lake, she’s actually booked an appointment with a doctor to try and get you back to your novel-composing ways, and that’s just not cool according to Alan. To help, your wife Alice has suggested going on a trip to the small, nondescript town of Bright Falls, hoping that getting away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life might give you some inspiration. You of course play as the titular Alan Wake, a famous writer who is fighting through some serious writer’s block (don’t I know that feeling). #ALAN WAKE REMASTERED UPDATES FULL#So, I’ll go into a bit of detail, but if you want a full breakdown of Alan Wake, go and check out our Editor-In-Chief Ron Burke’s review from yesteryear. Thankfully Alan Wake Remastered leans in the direction of the Bioshock Collection, and the return to Bright Falls feels fresh, even if its age shows a little bit. But not all remasters are created equal, and for every Bioshock Collection there is a Devil May Cry HD. Of course, we’ve probably got a ways to go to get there, so an Alan Wake remaster is exactly what I need to tide me over. I screeched in excitement when that website listing all but confirmed the existence of this remaster, but also the connotation that Alan Wake 2 is probably happening. I can’t call Alan Wake a guilty pleasure, or even a secret passion, because A, there’s a huge cult following of the title, and B, I’m very forthcoming in how much I love Alan Wake. ![]() ![]() It gives a neat and light look to your tiny bathroom - effortlessly hiding the toilet from a direct view from the entry door. We suggest you opt for open, tall shelving next to the sink or at the end of a tub that will take care of your basic items. In desperation she attacks him and races to the sea to try and escape as she's an excellent swimmer she almost gets away - but Pyrrhus scores a direct hit with his spear. Pyrrhus claims her as his property once he arrives to help finish the war, and when she tries to request that Patroclus' name be added to Achilles' grave, he cruelly refuses and plans to punish her for her 'lies' that his father loved such a pathetic man. Briseis' death scene is heart breaking. In the end they both die uncertain of the other's fate.
